ARTICLE IX

THE FUTURE OF CIVILIZATION

Every civilization is ultimately the reflection of the people who build it.

Institutions do not emerge from abstraction.

They emerge from the minds, values, character, decisions, and developmental maturity of human beings.

The strength of a civilization is inseparable from the quality of human formation within that civilization.

Weak formation produces weak institutions.

Strong formation produces strong institutions.

Confused individuals create confused systems.

Integrated individuals create integrated systems.

Visionary individuals create visionary cultures.

The future of society therefore depends upon the quality of human formation.

The Ascending Ladder of Civilization

Families rise through formation.

Communities rise through formation.

Organizations rise through formation.

Nations rise through formation.

Civilizations rise through formation.

The development of humanity begins with the development of the human person.

No technological advancement can permanently compensate for the absence of character.

No political structure can permanently compensate for the absence of wisdom.

No economic system can permanently compensate for the absence of responsibility.

The future belongs to societies that understand the science and practice of human formation.

Civilizations do not rise first through wealth, power, or technology. They rise through the quality of the human beings they produce.
