CYTOG HUMAN FORMATION AND LEARNING
CYTOG Canon, Volume VI

The Journal

of Symbolic Human Formation — Volume I, Issue I
Scholarly Publication Authority · Inaugural Issue · July 2026

Section I

Part I — Aims and Scope

The Journal of Symbolic Human Formation is Canon Volume VI: the scholarly publication authority of the discipline, and the only Canon work designed never to reach a final edition. It publishes peer-reviewed research advancing the theoretical, empirical, methodological, and comparative study of Symbolic Human Formation.

The Journal welcomes submissions from any Faculty engaging Symbolic Human Formation’s fourteen application fields, its comparative and historical disciplines, or its methodological toolkit, and from scholars outside CYTOG whose work is relevant to the domain.

Section II

Part II — Editorial Governance

Editor-in-Chief: Appointed by the Academic Senate; holds final editorial responsibility for each issue.

Editorial Board: Drawn from the Research Council, with representation from each Faculty holding a Symbolic Human Formation Department or cross-listed field.

Review Board: Subject-matter reviewers assigned per submission according to its stated methodology.

Section III

Part III — Submission Guidelines

Every submission shall follow the nine-section report structure of the Research Manual (Canon V): Title and Methodology, Context Statement, Research Question, Methodological Procedure, Findings, Formative Discussion, Limitations, Ethical Statement, and References.

  • Cite all Canon terms by their canonical Lexicon name; do not reintroduce a retired provisional name without noting the consolidation.
  • Declare the methodology used in the title block of the submission.
  • Where CFAM is applied, state whether the analysis is a complete ten-dimension pass or a declared partial application.
  • Include the Ethical Statement required for any submission involving human participants, living communities, or active traditions.
  • Comparative submissions spanning more than one civilizational tradition shall additionally satisfy the Atlas’s non-adjudication principle.

Section IV

Part IV — Peer Review Process

1.
Submission received and checked for compliance with Part III.

2.
Assigned to two reviewers with relevant expertise, blind to author identity.

3.
Reviewers assess methodological, ethical, and Constitutional compliance.

4.
Editorial decision: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Decline.

5.
Revised submissions are re-reviewed before a final decision.

6.
Accepted submissions are scheduled into the next issue and flagged for the Yearbook’s annual summary.

Section V

Part V — Standing Issue Structure

Every issue of the Journal shall be organized into the following standing sections.

Section VI

Part VI — Volume I, Issue I: Inaugural Issue

Editorial: Founding the Journal

This issue opens a Journal with no back catalogue to build on and no prior volume to answer to — an unusual position for a scholarly publication, and worth naming rather than disguising. What it does have is eleven completed Canon works behind it, arguing why this discipline holds together as one field rather than eleven unrelated interests.

A Journal exists to do what none of those eleven works can do alone: to remain open. Every other Canon work reached a first ratified edition and, in doing so, closed a question for now. This Journal is where the next question goes. We open Volume I, Issue I with an open call rather than a settled record, because that is what a living discipline requires of its journal.

This issue’s open sections are not a defect to be quietly filled later; they are the Journal’s honest starting position, and the clearest evidence that the discipline intends to keep discovering rather than merely restating what this Canon has already established.

Section VII

Closing Note

This template establishes the standing editorial structure of Canon Volume VI and opens Volume I, Issue I. Unlike the other eleven Canon works, the Journal has no closing note that declares it complete — each future issue supersedes only the previous issue’s open call, never the standing structure established here.
